bioid4The Masters of Biomedical Innovation and Development program (BioID program) is a collaborative academic experience in Biomedical technology and a hands-on clinical experience built upon the extraordinary resources and reputation of the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering: a joint department of the Georgia Tech College of Engineering and the Emory University School of Medicine.

The overall goals of the BioID program and T3 Labs are the same: Enabling the crucial “bench-to-bedside” progression that transforms biomedical research into practical, usable techniques and products for improving patient care. To that end, for 4 years in a row, T3 Labs has been an educational partner to the program: discussing the ins-and-outs of preclinical work and is honored to have been repeatedly invited to speak to the BioID students by the Director of the program, Dr. Sathya Gourisankar.

bioid1The BioID students recently toured through T3 Labs, and met with T3 Labs Program Directors, Deepal Panchal, Kelley Bennett, and Evan Goldberg, who taught them about the medical device product lifecycle, planning and stages of a preclinical study, preclinical protocol development, and the internship opportunities offered by T3. This is a rare opportunity for some of these students to get a picture of real-world preclinical research activities while still in grad school. Many of them had never visited a preclinical facility, until now, and this tour and lecture was a useful insight into the inner workings of one of the most critical stages of device development. The students were able to get a glimpse into the differences between GLP and Non-GLP studies, rough timelines and scope development for a preclinical study and key personnel involved in preclinical study. Our program directors were able to answer a multitude of questions- ranging from what is a GLP study to the type of study models.

bioid3The students committed to the program are the potential future leaders of the medical device industry and we are proud to encourage them as future collaborative partners. We know that with the guidance of the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, that the students will one day be our sponsors or perhaps even join T3 Labs through our career opportunities as we continue to provide the highest value services a preclinical CRO can offer.

If you are a student or professor and would like to be more involved in the happenings of T3, or an innovator that would like more information about how T3 Labs can partner with you in your preclinical process, contact us via email or call (404) 251-0600.
