Our colleague Chris Rozell, Professor and Julian T. Hightower Chair,Technical Interest Groups: Bioengineering, Digital Signal Processing at Georgia Tech asked us to share the following career opportunity advancing research and education in neuroscience.
We hope this initiative and position will have the opportunity to work closely with GCMI in the future.
From Chris:
Georgia Tech is launching a major new initiative advancing neuroscience, neurotechnology, and our understanding of its societal impacts. These advances are going to profoundly change lives, especially for the population of people suffering from neurologic and mental health disorders. I can’t imagine a more powerful way to have a positive impact on society than by advancing research and education in modern neuroscience and neurotechnology.
This effort needs a program manager to help drive all aspects of the initiative forward, including communications, community building, events and programming. The ideal person in this role is organized, detail-oriented, community-minded, an excellent communicator, and thrives giving structure to exciting but emerging projects. It is not necessary that the candidate have a scientific background, but it would certainly be a plus if they had some neuroscience experience. At a minimum, it is necessary to be passionate about the potential of the work we’re doing. This position will report directly to me. I care deeply about the people I work with, am intentional about the professional development of those people, and value their work-life balance.
The official job ad is linked below, but please don’t read it dogmatically. I am limited to generic job templates, so there is language that is not especially useful (e.g., this role actually has nothing to do with Electrical and Computer Engineering despite it being featured in the ad). The role will require being local or willing to relocate to Atlanta. This is a hybrid position: while there is a need to be physically on campus for some events, there is significant opportunity to work remotely much of the time. I am open to a range of work experiences, including recent graduates if they can demonstrate the skills and experience we need.
I can’t stress how excited I am about the opportunity we have here to build something from scratch that is completely unique and has huge impact in the world. Please come join me in doing it. We still start reviewing applications on February 15 and continue reviewing until the position is filled. Reach out if you have questions.
