GCMI is proud to announce our Interim CEO, Sherry Farrugia, has been named to the Board of Directors for Medical University of South Carolina Foundation for Research Development (MUSC FRD).

 

“MUSC FRD is pleased to welcome Sherry to the board,” stated Michael Rusnak FRD’s Executive Director of the Board. “Sherry brings over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare industry – many of those as an entrepreneur. She is nationally recognized for her work in supporting and advancing translational research specifically designed to improve health outcomes.”

 

“I am both honored and excited to join the MUSC FRD board and work with a group of leaders dedicated to building an ecosystem of innovation whose activities contribute to the overall economic impact of our country,” stated Ms. Farrugia.

 

Before joining Georgia Tech and subsequently its affiliate GCMI, Sherry owned a successful consulting company where she worked with healthcare companies advising them on new market opportunities, launching new verticals and advising startups on go to market strategies. She also co-founded and sold a health IT company to McKesson HBO & Company and was involved in several early stage start-ups.

 

Ms. Farrugia was named Woman in Technology Woman of the Year (2018) and honored by Georgia Bio (2018, 2019, 2020) for her work in supporting Life Sciences. She is currently an advisory board member of Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities; board member of International Society of Pediatric Innovation, Southeast Life Sciences and MedTech Women@SEMDA.
